What we offer?

# About Us Welcome! Guru Nanak Sikh Temple (Brisbane Gurdwara) is a Sikh place of worship, open to all human beings, irrespective of religion, race, cast, creed, and sex; provided they abide by the code of conduct and protocol mandated by the Sikh place of worship. Please join your fellow Sikhs in daily morning or evening prayers, or special weekly services (Satsang) on Sundays; ladies routinely hold special prayers (Sukhmani Sahib) every Wednesday at 11 am. The auspicious days of Sikh calendar (Gurpurabs) and other traditional festivals are celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion. Celebrating Special Events If you need to observe a religious ceremony to seek blessings of Almighty to celebrate and commemorate the happy occasions of life; or wish to welcome Guru Granth Sahib (The Holy Book) at your home to hold special recitals (Paths) and singing of hymns (Kirtan); or seek solace and last rites on passing on of a loved one, we shall provide the spiritual counsel and practical help with the ceremony and arrangements. Please check our on-line booking facility or just call us. Enjoying the Services and Facilities of the Organisation Aside from the religious services, the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple (GNST) functions as a registered association in a democratic and transparent manner (see our Org page). The association has industrial grade cooking facilities and resources to cater for a large congregation. There is a 1000+ books Pujabi language library; Seniors room; Board room for meetings and discussions; routine organisation of cultural events like kavidarbaars; dedicated portfolios for Youth Activities; special reservation for women in the Management Committee (at present 33% of management committee members are women). We liaise and interact with many mainstream Australian community organisations and forums; are generous donor to disaster relief appeals; and encourage our members to participate in causes such as Blood Donation and community work. Sikhism as a way of life Sikhism is a modern and practical religion; it believes in one God whom all human beings should worship to receive salvation; it belives in ‘caring, sharing and daring’ – care for your fellow beings, share your happiness and good fortune and they will share your sorrow and misfortune, and dare to be brave against injustice and oppression. As mentioned before, persons of all faiths and beliefs are welcome; why not join our Sunday prayer culminating in sharing and partaking of simple vegetarian meal. We look forward to seeing you at out next gathering!
